Title: 100 Acres of Cotton
"I thought I would never get to the end of this 100 acres of cotton. My younger brother and I had to chop and hoe this field and when my daddy saw that we would never be able to finish, he got my Uncle Voyde Hughes and son, my cousin, Lester Hughes to help. My cousin Lester also got a college degree because he didn't want to ever chop cotton again."
"We leased the land from Effie McWilliams who lives out of Arcadia on FM 138. We would put watermelons in the West Creek that ran in back of the field. They would get good and cold when we took a break to eat them."
"The field is now grown up in trees."
