"This is where my paternal grandmother, Ruth Smith Grant Mena, lived when I was a child. My brothers, sisters, and I liked to stay with her and play with the baby goats, geese, and guineas. I remember that she didn't have indoor plumbing, so when we spent the night and had to use the bathroom in the night, we had to learn to use old peach cans."
