The Friend home is a two-story, 1900 Queen Anne structure with a full length porch supported by wood colums and spindlework railing. The home contains a dominant front-facing gable above the entry way, and a gazebo off the right side of the porch.
Historical Background
The Friend House was originally a seven-room, one story dwelling built in 1900 by Charles and Maud Friend on land given to them as a wedding gift by Maud's father, W.W. Heartsill. The second story was built into an attic in 1906 by the Friend family. Once condemned, the structure and grounds were restored to period elegance in 1990.
