Whether you want to work toward a Ph.D. or acquire the skills necessary to succeed in the intelligence community, SFA’s graduate program has the resources to get you started. Continuing your education at SFA can help you take the next steps in pursuing a professional career in national security and intelligence.

SFA’s national security program is offered completely online. Courses are designed to maximize student preparation for a wide range of intelligence careers and directly address the course components and skills identified and outlined by the Defense Intelligence Agency. Students have the option of completing a master’s degree or selecting one of two certificates

Master of Arts in national security

Prepare yourself for a career in the growing field of intelligence and security studies to safeguard the future. Take a variety of online courses comprising specialized certificates in intelligence studies and homeland security to hone skills identified by the Defense Intelligence Agency.

The program consists of nine credit hours from the required core classes and 24 hours of electives working toward a preferred certificate. Finally, students will complete three hours of a comprehensive exam or, for students wishing to continue their education in a doctoral program, three hours of thesis work approved by the program director.

Certificate in intelligence studies

This 12-hour certificate covers topics such as global security, U.S. foreign policy, intelligence research and more. Students who choose this track will complete nine hours of required coursework and three additional hours from an approved elective.

Certificate in homeland security

The certificate in homeland security comprises nine hours of required coursework and three additional elective hours. Coursework ranges from interagency operations, cyberwarfare policy, organized crime, terrorism and more.
