"Rocket Morton," a 2012 painting by SFA Assistant Professor of Art Runcie Tatnall, is one of the pieces included in "Runcie Tatnall: Mighty." The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Art will open the exhibition at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House as part of the 2012-2013 Gallery Series.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Art will open the 2012-2013 Gallery Series with "Runcie Tatnall: Mighty" with a 5:30 p.m. reception on Friday, Aug. 10, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The exhibition features new oil paintings by SFA assistant professor of art Runcie Tatnall, a member of the SFA faculty since 2010.

According to the artist's website, his "(p)owerful composition and deft rendering allow viewers to drift in and out of the emotions and landscapes of the paintings, inviting viewers to create narratives for themselves."

A Delaware native, Tatnall received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware and his Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Miami. He has also studied at the Art Students League of New York.

Since 1995, his work has been exhibited in New York City, Philadelphia, Miami and Houston. Please go to www.runcie.com to learn more about the artist and his work.

"Runcie Tatnall: Mighty" will be on view in the Reavley Gallery through Saturday, Sept. 22, and is sponsored in part by Nacogdoches Junior Forum and SFA Friends of the Visual Arts.
