NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - A Disney Movie Magic choir camp for second through eighth graders, Kindermusik camps for newborns through 5-year-olds, flexible private music lessons for all ages, and adult piano classes are all part of the summer program offered by the Music Preparatory Division at Stephen F. Austin State University.

The Disney Movie Magic choir camp, which will meet from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 4, through Friday, June 8, will culminate with a performance at the Blueberry Festival on Saturday, June 9. The weekday sessions will be held at the Music Prep House, 3028 Raguet St.

Director Nicole Stewart, director of the SFA Children's Chorus and Junior Chorale, and her assistant Shelby Tillery will tailor their instruction of Disney songs and choreography to the participants' experience levels.

Students will have the option to work individually on solos, choral songs with those in the their same age group and combination numbers. The camp is open to singers in grades two through eight. The $135 registration fee includes a t-shirt.

Parents of newborns through 5-year-olds may enroll their children in Kindermusik Adventure Camps taught by certified Kindermusik instructor Karen Greer June 25 through 29.

"Peek-A-Boo, I Love You!" for newborns to 18-month-olds and their caregivers will meet from 9 to 9:45 a.m.; "Zoo Train," for children 18 months to 3 years, will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; and "On the Road," for 3- to 5-year-olds, will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. All classes will be held in the Music Prep House.

Tuition, which includes at-home materials for each camper, is $75 for "Peek-A-Boo, I Love You!" and $100 each for the other two camps. Registration deadline for all Kindermusik camps is Tuesday, June 12.

The FlexLessons offered by the division enable students to sign up for either four, six or eight private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, flute, clarinet, horn, harp, Suzuki and traditional violin, viola, cello, bass, and other instruments as requested, explained Pat Barnett, division director. "We recognize that families' summer schedules are full, so we offer a variety of flexible options between June 4 and Aug. 10."

Adults wishing to improve their piano playing can register for Dr. Ping-Ting Lan's seven-session adult intermediate piano class that will meet on Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 4 through July 16 in the Griffith Fine Arts Building, Room 302.
