The Reduced Shakespeare Company will present "The Complete World of Sports (abridged)" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28. The College of Fine Arts recommends tickets to the show as a unique gift.

NACOGDCOCHES, TEXAS - For anyone who is still looking for unique holiday gift ideas, the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts may have just the solution-tickets to "The Complete World of Sports (abridged)" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

This fast-paced comedy, which takes the audience through the world of sports at record-breaking speed, is the newest spoof of the three-man comedy troupe, the Reduced Shakespeare Company, also known as "the Bad Boys of Abridgement."

As with their other shows-"The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)" and "The Complete History of America (abridged)," for example-the writers have packed the script with tricky wordplay and acrobatic puns, said Sylvia Bierschenk, director of Arts Information at SFA.

"There are the usual assortment of broad physical gags too: a slow motion, instant replay of rock-paper-scissors game, a bit about men's synchronized swimming, and even a demonstration of the first sport ever played, Neanderthal-in-the-Middle," Bierschenk continued.

According to the promotional material, the show will appeal to a wide audience. As one of the actors said, "You don't have to be a sports fanatic to get this show. In fact, even if you hate sports, you'll enjoy it. You might even like it more if you do hate sports."
