NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations for participation in the community-wide presentation of Georg Frideric Handel's "Messiah" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, are now being accepted through the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music. Registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 3.

The school has a long history of presenting Handel's masterpiece during December, said Dr. Tim King, SFA professor of music and director of choral activities. "We invite singers from around the area to join their voices with the SFA combined choirs and participate in this holiday tradition."

Rehearsals, which are limited but mandatory according to King, are scheduled for 7 p.m. in W.M. Turner Auditorium on Monday, Dec. 6; Tuesday, Dec. 7; and Thursday, Dec. 9.

Interested singers should register online at www.music.sfasu.edu/messiah and obtain a Novello/Watkins Shaw edition of the vocal score. These are available through many online sources such as www.amazon.com and www.jwpepper.com. Rehearsal compact discs of each voice part may be obtained from the School of Music office in the Wright Music Building, Room 150.

Once registered, vocalists will receive a letter of confirmation, outlining rehearsal and performance details. For more information, please call (936) 468-4602.
