NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will open the 26th Annual Art Alliance Spring Student Art Show with a reception and awards presentation from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 6, in the Art Building Galleries off of Wilson Drive.

At 5:35 p.m., Dr. Scott Robinson, director of the School of Art, will announce the winners of the show and the recipients of the 2009-2010 art scholarships.

The annual exhibition, sponsored by the Art Alliance student organization, provides SFA undergraduate and graduate art students the opportunity to exhibit their work in a competitive show juried by a professional art critic, explained Dr. Jill Carrington, SFA associate professor of art history and the group's faculty advisor.

"We are delighted that Mel Chin, the juror for 'TEXAS NATIONAL 2009,' has agreed to juror our show also," Carrington said. "From the pieces he selects for the exhibition, he will also designate the First, Second and Third Place winners and Honorable Mention in both graduate and undergraduate categories and the overall Best of Show."

The show will continue through Wednesday, April 15. Regular gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for Friday, April 10. Admission to the opening and show is free. For more information, please call the School of Art office at (936) 468-4804.
