NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Registrations are still being accepted for the two children's choirs offered through the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division. The Live Wire Choir is open to children in kindergarten through second grade, and the Lyric Choir is open to those in third grade and above.

The choirs, both directed by Jennifer Weems, will begin meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10, in Room 153 of the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building. Live Wire Choir will meet from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., and the Lyric Choir will meet from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Both choirs will present a recital in May and are available for performance opportunities.

The Live Wire Choir is designed to help students develop vocal talent by building skills in pitch matching, tone development, breathing techniques, basic music theory, sight singing and ear training. The Lyric Choir expands on the basics of music theory, sight singing and ear training, and members will be introduced to songs written in foreign languages and multiple parts. Tuition for the 12-week programs is $100 and $120, respectively.
