NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Pianists Mary Rich of Lon Morris College and Vicki Conway of the University of Texas/Tyler, will present a guest duo piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. Admission is free.

The duo will present staples of the two piano repertoire, including Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Suite No. 1 for Two Pianos," a long work the composer wrote when he was 20 and dedicated to Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and "Variations on a Theme of Paganini" by Witold Lutoslawski. said Andrew Parr, SFA professor of piano.

"Based on the famous violin theme, Lutoslawski's variations reflect the discord of the chaotic conditions during the occupation and liberation of Nazi-occupied Poland during World War II," Parr explained.

The duo will also perform W.A. Mozart's "Sonata in D Major."

The concert is a joint presentation of the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music. Cole Concert Hall is located at 2210 Alumni Dr. For more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
