If you already have your master’s degree and want to work as a principal, choose this 18-hour certification-only program to work toward a standard principal certificate.
Though this option does not necessarily shorten the time for completing the program, it does decrease your number of required courses. As a result, the principal certification-only option can’t include any transfer hours and must be completed in 10 years.
The scholar-practitioner approach to this program incorporates theory and practice-based learning that focuses on research-based leadership practices, curriculum and instructional leadership, data-driven decision-making, special programs, law, and school and community leadership.
The program is nationally accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. It has a more than 90% pass rate on the TExES and maintains a rigorous curriculum taught completely by highly qualified professors with successful leadership experience.
To be eligible for this program option, the student must meet the following criteria:
- a master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- valid teaching certification
- an overall grade point average of 2.5
- and two years of teaching experience.
Certification courses are in bold.
