What does it mean to be a first-generation student?
First-generation (commonly referred to as first-gen) college students are those whose parents or guardians have not graduated with a bachelor's degree in the United States.

- GenJacks program
- This program is open to incoming first-year students in a cohort format, immediately joining a community of other first-generation incoming students.
- Health and Wellness Hub

- List of A-Z Concerns and the primary office to contact
- New-Lumberjack Experience - Student success course
- This course, SFAS 1101, offers sections specific to GenJacks and several "general sections." There are opportunities to join sections based on your declared major, college and more!

Wednesday, Nov. 6 | 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Surfin' Steve | First-Gen Reflections Write reflection letters about the obstacles you've faced as a first-gen student and how far you've come. Reflecting on this growth provides a chance to celebrate your journey, embrace your strength and remind yourself of your incredible accomplishments. This event is a partnership with the Health and Wellness Hub. |
Wednesday, Nov. 6 | 4 to 6 p.m. | Student Recreation Center Courtyard | First-Gen Fitness Get ready for some outdoor fun! No experience required as we enjoy some pickup volleyball, basketball and a variety of yard games. Bring your friends, enjoy the sunshine and let’s make some unforgettable memories together |
Thursday, Nov. 7 | 2 to 4 p.m. | Baker Pattillo Student Center Twilight Ballroom | First-Gen Celebration This come-and-go event is an opportunity to connect with fellow first-gen students, participate in engaging activities and celebrate achievements together.
