The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has designated the Texas Transfer Advisory Committee to govern the transfer rules and framework for curriculum of transfer students.

Field of Study Curriculum

Required by Texas Education Code § 61.823 and Texas Administrative Code § 4.32, each field of study curriculum consists of lower-level courses that transfer to SFA and apply to specific degree programs.

A completed field of study curriculum has the following components:

  • discipline foundation courses (up to 12 semester cresit hours)
  • directed electives (at least six semester credit hours) within your field of study
  • and Texas core curriculum courses.

When you complete your discipline foundation and directed elective courses at a community college, the courses will transfer as a block to SFA and be applied to your degree plan.

If you transfer before completing your FOSC, courses will transfer individually to your degree plan and SFA may require you to complete the remaining courses to satisfy this requirement.
