Dual Credit

SFA's dual credit program is designed to provide eligible high school students an opportunity to earn college credit in an affordable manner. This is demonstrated by the following:

• The application fee is waived for students applying to the SFA dual credit program.
• Dual credit tuition, including all fees, is $86 per semester credit hour, or approximately an 85% discount from the full price of a normal course.
  • For example, a three-credit-hour course, such as English composition, would cost $258.
  • Courses taken must be core curriculum or within a dual credit exploratory pathway to receive the dual credit price.

Students enrolled in dual credit courses are subject to the same academic policies as those in regular courses. You also have all student support services available to them, including:

• the Academic Assistance and Resource Center
• the Center for Career and Professional Development
• Counseling Services
• Disability Services
• Health Services
• Steen Library

As a dual-credit student, you're eligible to purchase a Campus Recreation membership!

You receive both high school and college credits for every class you complete successfully — and your college credits will be accepted at SFA. That means you’ll enter college with a head start!

Note: If a student is a minor, a parental consent form may be required to access certain services. If a student has questions about how to access resources on campus, they should contact the Dean of Students Office for assistance at 936.468.7249 or dos@sfasu.edu.

When applying for dual credit, complete your application to SFA and follow these steps:

1. Click "Create an Account" and complete the instructions to set up your account.
   • Keep your username and password safe!
2. Start a new application.
3. Select "Dual Credit Application."
4. Follow the prompts to complete and submit your application.

Texas Success Initiative

A state-mandated program designed by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, TSI requirements apply to all students in Texas public colleges and universities. View the TSI exemptions and requirements.

Students must prove college-readiness by providing testing scores that meet exemption, passing, or waiver requirements. Visit the Student Success Center's Dual Credit Students TSI page for score requirements.

All TSI exemptions and/or TSI Assessment scores should be sent to the Office of Admissions by email, fax or mail using the contact information below.

• Submit your completed and signed dual credit student agreement.
• Your official high school transcript (must be received directly from your high school)

Bacterial meningitis immunization requirement

In order to live on campus or take face-to-face classes, state law requires new students have a bacterial meningitis vaccine, that is less than five years old, administered at least 10 days prior to the start of term.
