SFA is proud to offer summer camps to the Nacogdoches community.

From art to sports and everything in between, these summer camps are designed to challenge, educate and engage campers through hands-on learning. Learn more by exploring the options below.

Art

The School of Art will not offer their summer art academies in 2024 but hope to resume these offerings in 2025.

Campus Recreation

Little Jack Rec Camp: ages 6 to 12

Camp sessions are one week in length and structured like a normal day of regular school with campers moving through our facilities participating in different programs throughout each day.

A non-sport specific camp, Little Jack Rec Camp makes sure that all activities are geared towards beginner and intermediate skill levels. 

Learn to Swim: ages 6 months +

Available in group and private lesson format, visit the Learn-To-Swim page to explore the different levels of swim lessons offered.

Environment conservation

Conservation Careers: ages 14 to 17

Exploring career opportunities in natural resource management through engaging, hands-on experiences. Campers gain knowledge about environmental stewardship, land ethics and forest health, all while using high-end technology to experience the world in a new way.

Literacy

Literacy Camps: ages 4 to 5 and incoming grades 1 to 4

Camps focus on reading skills and storytelling ability, which all foster improved academic language skills, including vocabulary and grammar. Each camp will address different age levels and skills. Campers will learn these skills in a fun and motivating way.

Music

Band: incoming grades 7 to 12

Week-long camps provide an environment for students to establish new friendships, collaborate with peers, receive mentorship from SFA School of Music faculty members and much more. Campers, faculty, staff and counselors enjoy the fun of theme days, and camp activities go beyond music! Swimming, sports and board games are only a few examples of ways in which campers bond with each other.

Choir: incoming grades 9 to 12

One of the first of its kind, SFA’s annual All-State Choir Music camp is designed for 9th-12th grade students preparing for the TMEA All-State choir auditions. Committed to both the Large and Small School All-State process, section leaders are a combination of SFA faculty and esteemed high school directors from various parts of Texas.

Piano: incoming grade 6 through college-level

At SFA's Summer Piano Institute, students will have the opportunity to engage in daily private lessons with a piano faculty member, receive coaching for piano duets or ensembles, and take supplemental classes in technique and history to improve their overall musicianship.

Strings: incoming grades 6 to 12

Come join the SFA strings faculty, guest artists and staff for a week of unforgettable music making and friendship. The SFA Strings Camp invites junior high and high school students to be involved in this one-week intensive orchestra camp.

Music Preparatory: Private and group lessons (instruments and ages vary)

The Music Preparatory Division offers several summer programs. Each program has its own age and experience requirements. Visit their Summer Programs webpage for all the details and to register.

Pre-Law

Pre-Law Academy: incoming grades 11 to 12

Are you a high school student interested in a law career? Established in 2014, SFA’s Pre-Law Academy is Texas’ only high school pre-law program — a unique opportunity for rising juniors and seniors and students currently completing their senior year.

STEM

Little STEM Jacks: grades 1 to 5

This event captures the attention of children of varying ages by providing them opportunities to learn and play with science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through immersive scientific discovery, the day camp looks to excite students to the many possibilities in math and science.

There are camps available for students entering grades 1 to 5.

Robotics and Coding Summer Camp: incoming grades 6 to 8

Through hands-on experience, participants will unleash their creativity as they program robots to conquer exciting missions, while fostering teamwork and problem-solving skills.

This camp is designed for middle school students who will be entering grades 6 through 8 for the upcoming school year.

Theatre

High School Summer Theatre Workshop: incoming grades 10 to 12

The oldest program of its kind in the state of Texas. The High School Summer Theatre Workshop consists of two weeks of concentrated instruction in acting, voice and movement, or scenery, costumes, make-up, sound, lighting and stage management for high school students.
